Starting the week off was our Inez Volunteer Fire Department Cuties and Beauties Pageant! This years pageant was themed "Autumn Angels." We had a fantastic turnout and everything went super smooth! So many gorgeous children with some of the most adorable fall themed outfits you've ever seen!
We ended the week with our Fire Pup's Snack Shack at the Harvest Festival where we fixed Philly Steak and Cheese Sandwiches and every thing you can imagine deep fried (from pickles to twinkies)! We were a huge success!
It was a crazy week full of fall, festivals, fun, friends, family and food!

Sounds fun! How do you deep-fry a twinkie? Do you batter it first? Did you try one?
You do batter it! We used funnel cake batter but you can also use pancake batter or make your own mix (I saw several recipes on the internet). After frying we sprinkled with powdered sugar. It was actually delish! Much better than I had imagined it would be... I would have liked to have tried some kind of dipping sauce with it but we lacked the time to come up with something... You should try it - it was not only easy but also fun! Oh and not to forget - yummy!
